1. DRDO successfully carried out tests of NAG missile.

  • India’s indigenously developed third generation anti-tank guided missile(ATGM) NAG has been successfully flight tested by Defence Research and Development Organization in deserts of Rajasthan.
  • S Christopher is the Chairman of Delhi headquartered organization.

2. Venkaiah Naidu laid foundation of country’s first green field smart city.

  • Vice President Venkaiah Naidu laid the foundation stone for Ranchi Smart City coming up on the Heavy Engineering Corporation(HEC) land.
  • According to Urban Development ministry this would be India’s first green field smart city.

3. Ram Jethmalani retires after 70 years of legal profession.

  • Mr. Ram Jethmalani, 94, announced his retirement from over seven-decade-long career as an advocate.
  • While speaking at the Bar Council of India he also slammed the old and New governments.

International News

1. Shaheen VI China Pakistan Air force joint exercise begins in China.

  • The Air Force of China and Pakistan has began a joint training exercise named Shaheen VI and deployed their largest fighter jets and AWACS aircraft.
  • AWACS is Airborne Warning And Control System, a mobile, long range radar surveillance and control centre for air defence.

2. Lord Buddha would have helped Rohingya Muslims: Dalai Lama.

  • Dalai Lama, Tibetan Spiritual leader while condemning the violence against Rohngya Muslims in Myanmar said the Lord Buddha would have helped the Rohingyas.
  • Notably, majority population in Myanmar follows Buddhism.

3. US commemorates 16th anniversary of 9/11 terror attacks.

  • The US commemorated the 16th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks in 2001 which killed nearly 3,000 people.
  • President Donald trump observed a moment of silence for the anniversary for the first time as the President.

Business News

1. PNB, BSNL join hands for mobile wallet speedpay Rollout.

  • Punjab National Bank and State-run telecom operator BSNL joined hands to roll out open mobile wallet speedpay across 10 states in the country.
  • PNB speedpay wallet will operate like any other mobile wallet for paying bills, recharging phone.

2. Second Indian Worker’s Resource Center inaugurated in UAE.

  • Indian ambassador in UAE Navdeep Singh Suri inaugurated the second Indian Worker’s Resource Center(IWRC) in UAE to provide support and counseling to Indians in distress.
  • Notably, the first IWRC was opened in Dubai in 2010.

3. Bharti Airtel focusing on low price 4G handset to take on Jio.

  • India’s largest telecom operator Bharti Airtel is in talks with multiple handset makers to bring a 4G smart phone for a price as low as 2,500-2,700 to take on Reliance Jio.
  • The planned dual SIM 4G smart phone will sport a four-inch display, dual camera, VoLTE calling and a longer battery life.

1. Rafael Nadal wins his 3rd US Open title.

  • World No.1 Rafael NAdal won his 3rd US Open title, taking his tally of grand slam titles to 16.
  • Nadal defeated first time Grand Slam finalist Kevin Anderson to clinch the title.

2. Hingis-Yung Jan Chan wins women’s doubles title.

  • Martina Hingis with Taiwan’s Chan Yung-Jan won her 25th career Grand Slam crown to win the US open women’s doubles title.
  • Hingis and Chan beat Czechs Lucie Hradecka and Katerina Siniakova 6-3, 6-2.
