  • The UAE announced a relaxation in visa rules for Indians, which it said was part of the strengthening of bilateral ties.
  • UAE cabinet decided to grant visa on arrival to Indian passport holders with residence visa from UK and the European Union.

2. India-Pakistan begin high level talks on Indus water treaty in Washington.

  • India and Pakistan in Washington started high-level talks on technical issues of the Indus Waters Treaty.
  • The World Bank has assured that both countries will continue to work to resolve the issues in an amicable manner.

3. India’s first soap opera was broadcasted on 15th September, 1984.

  • India’s first soap opera ‘Hum Log’ was broadcasted by Public Service Broadcaster Doordarshan on 15th September, 1985.

1. Sweden conducts biggest war games in 20 years.

  • Sweden is conducting biggest ever military drill in over 20 years, named The aurora Exercise with the support of NATO countries.
  • North Atlantic Treaty Organisation(NATO) is an intergovernmental military organization headquartered in Brussels, Belgium.

2. N Korea test fires second missile over Japan in a month.

  • N Korea test-fired a ballistic missile over Japan, its second such missile over the country in less than a month.
  • This comes after N Korea threatened to ‘sink’ Japan using nuclear weapons for supporting latest UN sanctions against it.

3. India launches operation ‘Insaniyat’ to help Bangladesh.

  • India has started Operation Insaniyat to provide assistance to Bangladesh in response to humanitarian crisis being faced on account of the large influx of Rohingya refugees into the country from Myanmar.
  • The first tranches of India’s relief aid for the Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh arrived with 53MT of goods containing Rice, Wheat, Edible Oil, Sugar, Tea, Mosquito Nets, Instant Noodles.

1. Postal service to order food from Japan to India to begin soon.

  • India and Japan signed pact to start postal service which will help Japanese people living in India to order food from Japan.
  • The food delivery service called ‘cool box service’ will improve people-to-people ties between the two countries.

2. Karntanaka first Indian state to approve e-vehicle policy.

  • Karnataka has become the first state to roll out an Electric Vehicle and Energy Storage policy.
  • Karnataka is looking to attract investments to the tune of RS.31,000crore from companies looking at R&D and manufacturing of Electric Vehicles.

3. HDFC bank ranked India’s top brand with $17.97bn brand Value.

  • Private sector lender HDFC Bank topped the list of the country’s top 50 brands with brand value of $17.97bn.
  • Interestingly, Jio is ranked 11th with $2.43bn and Airtel ranked 2nd with $10.23bn.

1. Paris to host 2024 Summer Olympic Games.

  • The International Olympic Committee(IOC)officially awarded the 2024 Summer Olympic games to Paris and 2028 Games to Los Angeles.
  • Paris will be hosting quadrennial event 100 years after its last games in 1924.

2. Germany tops FIFA ranking, India placed 107th.

  • In the latest ranking released by FIFA, India are placed 107th among 211 countries.
  • At the top of the table, Germany toppled Brazil to regain the No. 1 spot.
