1. UP Assembly passes budget of 76 departments

  • The budget worth hundreds of crores for 76 departments was passed within 15 minutes with the entire Opposition boycotting the assembly.
  • The budget was passed without any supplementaries or debate.

2. Less than 1 doctor per 1000 people in India

  • This ratio is less than the WHO(World Health Organisation) Standard.
  • 8.18 lakh doctors are available for active service, which brings the ratio to 0.62:1000.
  • WHO prescribes a ratio of 1:1000.

3.PMO wants military school model at all schools

  • The Human Resource Development Ministry was asked by the Prime Minister’s Office to incorporate aspects of military schools in regular schools.
  • The military schools are known for physical training regime and developing a sense of patriotism in students along with disciplining them.
  • This will help in the holistic development of students.

4. Indian Railways working with Apple to increase speeds

  • Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu said that the government is working with global technology firms to increase train speeds to more than 600 kmph
  • He also said about the plans of using self-propelled coaches that detect rail fractures.

International News

1.Interpol lists 173 ISIS suicide attackers

  • The list mentioning the names, mosques they prayed at, date ISIS recruited them and mother’s names is circulated by Interpol.
  • These people could carry suicide attacks in Europe in revenge for their military defeats.

2. South Korea seeks complete denuclearisation of North Korea by 2020

  • S Korean President Moon Jae-in is seeking a deal with N Korea in this regard in return for guaranteeing the survival of Kim Jongun’s regime.
  • The talks are proposed to ease tension over N Korea’s nuclear missile program.

3.France tells UK to pay money ahead of Brexit

  • France Economy Minister Bruno Le Maire said that UK must pay a Brexit bill.
  • He quoted former British PM Margaret Thatcher,”We want our money back”, and it is a non-negotiable prerequisite for Brexit talks.

4. Kuwait orders Iran envoy to leave the country within 45 days

  • Kuwait has passed orders to the Iranian ambassador Ali-Reza Enayati to leave the country within 45 days over links to a terror cell.
  • Earlier, Kuwait had orders Iran to reduce their embassy staff from 19 to 4 claiming that Iran wanted to destabilise the country.

1 .Rajesh Exports at 256 on Fortune’s Global 500 list

  • Gold manufacturing giant jumped 128 ranks from the previous year with a revenue of $36 billion.
  • Seven other Indian companies featured on the list.

2. Mobile phones worth Rs.90000 crore produced in India in 2016-17

  • Last year, the production was worth Rs.54000 crores.
  • The imports ofmobile handsets fell from 146 million last year to 76 million in 2016-17.

3. Walmart tops Fortune’s Global 500 list for the 4th consecutive year

  • The Us Retail Giant has topped the list with a revenue of $486 billion
  • Since 1995, the retailer has claimed the top spot 12 times on the list.

Sports News
1.Bolt runs 100m race in under 10 seconds for the first time in 2017

  • Jamaica’s Usain Bolt, eight time Olympic gold winner clocked 9.95 seconds at the Monaco Diamond League.
  • He won the race by three-hundredth’s of a second.

2. Dalal wins a medal at World Para Athletics meet

  • Indian para athlete Karamjyoti Dalal won a bronze medal and managed a throw of 19.02 meters.
  • Dalal competes in F55 category and is paralysed below the waist.
