1. Dharmendra Pradhan unveils first LPG panchayat in Gujarat.

  • Union minister for petroleum and natural gas Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday inaugurated the Pradhan Mantri LPG Panchayat as a backup to the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana in Gandhinagar.
  • The scheme is aimed at providing LPG gas cylinders to village households and replace conventional fuel for domestic purposes.

2. WB gets USD 300mn ADB loan.

  • Multilateral funding agency Asian Development Bank(ADB) has sanctioned a USD 300mn loan facility for carrying forward fiscal reforms in West Bengal.
  • ADB is headquartered in Manila, Philippines.

3. India gets first high power Horse Power locomotive from France.

  • India has received its first high Horsepower Locomotive with the body shell of 12000 HP loco from Alstom France.
  • This first of its kind locomotive will be used to haul freight trains at twice the existing speed by 2018.

International News

1. Zannah Mustapha wins UNHCR Nansen refugee award.

  • A Nigerian Zannah Mustapha has won the UN High Commssion for Refugees(UNHCR) 2017 Nansen Refugees Award.
  • He is the Director of Future Prowess Islamic foundation school.

2. Rockets to US inevitable after insults from Trump: N Korea.

  • The insults by US president Donald Trump against N Korean leadr Kim Jong-un, make our rockets visit to the entire US mainland inevitable, a statement by N Korean Foreign Minsitry.
  • Statement also mentions that sanctions would not move n Korea’s resolve to develop nuclear and missile weaponry by an inch.

3. India & Canada jointly releases Diwali stamps.

  • India and Canada have unveiled their first joint stamp, as the countries simultaneously issued stamps to celebrate the festival of Diwali.
  • The stamps were designed by Doreen Colonello of Entro Communications and India Post.

1. SBI launches India’s first bond Index series at London Stock Exchange.

  • State Bank of India (SBI) on Friday launched India’s first bond index series for overseas investors at the London Stock Exchange (LSE).
  • The launch follows the November 2015 visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the UK when a letter of intent was signed between SBI and FTSE to jointly develop the new index tracking Indian fixed income securities.

2. Dabur Ties up with Amazon for Ayurveda marketplace.

  • Dabur India has tied up with e-commerce major Amazon for an online ayurveda marketplace which will house all ayurvedic brands and products of the country.
  • The company will also offer consumers an insight into various ayurvedic medicines for treating a variety of ailments.

3. SBI tops Trust and Popularity charts.

  • State Bank of India(SBI) has topped chart of India’s most rusted and most popular bank, according to survey conducted by Brand Finance.
  • On the trust chart SBI is followed by HDFC Bank and Central Bank of India.

1. Nadal, Federer win 1st ever doubles match as partners.

  • Swiss ace Roger Federer and Spain’s Rafael Nadal teamed up for the first time ever for a doubles match and registered a win for team Europe in Laver Cup.
  • Federer and Nadal defeated Team World’s Sam Querrey and Jack Sock.

2. India bags 4 more medals at 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games.

  • In the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Games at Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, India bagged four more medals taking tally to 19 medals including 5 gold.
  • Currently India is at 11th spot in the medals tally.
