3. Govt caps prices of cancer drugs, heart condition medicines

  • The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority has capped prices of 51 essential formulations.
  • The regulator is expected to slash prices anywhere between 6% to 53%.

International News

1. UN to assist Rohingyas return to Myanmar

  • Bangladesh and Myanmar have agreed to take assistance from UN’ refugee agency for the repatriation of more than 6 lakh Rohingya Muslims.
  • The Rohingyas will be issued an identity card for national verification on their return as per a deal between the countries.

2. Egypt forces kill militants in retaliation of mosque attack

  • The Egyptian Air Force killed several militants after 235 worshippers were killed in an attack in the country’s mosque.
  • Following the attack, the country’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has vowed to respond to the attack with ‘brute force’.

  • Amazon’s shares surged by more than 2% due to Black Friday sales.

2. Govt to auction up to 21 GW of solar, wind capacities by March 2018

  • The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy on Friday announced auction of up to 21 GW solar and wind capacities by March 2018.
  • The ministry will auction total 3-4 GW wind power capacity during third and fourth rounds by March 2018

1. Jhulan has most wickets in women’s international cricket history

  • Indian women’s team fast bowler Jhulan Goswami, with her tally of 285 scalps is the highest wicket taker.
  • Her tally of 191 ODI scalps is also the highest in women’s ODI cricket.

2. Ritu Phogat wins silver

  • She bagged the silver medal in the U-23 Senior World Wrestling Championship in Poland.
  • Ritu had won the gold medal at the Commonwealth Wrestling Championship last year and a bronze at the Asian Championships in May.
