1. Official arrested over Rs.500 cr wealth 3 days before retirement

  • An Andhra Pradesh municipal department official Golla Venkata Raghurami Reddy was arrested 3 days before his retirement.
  • He owns a hotel in Shirdi, 300 acres of land near Vijayawada among others.

2. Economic Advisory Council revived

  • NITI Aayog member Bibek Debroy will head the Council and NITI Aayog Principal Advisor Ratan Watal will serve as its Member-Secretary.
  • The part time members include Surjit Bhalla, Rathin Roy and Ashima Goyal.

3. Passenger carrying 10 live bullets arrested at Delhi airport

  • A passenger who was supposed to take a flight to Bengaluru was found carrying the bullets in his luggage.
  • Officials handed him over to the police as he did not produce valid documents for carrying it.

4. 23% of child marriages in India happen in Karnataka

  • According to the Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, the state accounts for 23.2% of them.
  • The practice is more prevalent in North Karnataka with the majority of cases being reported from Kalaburgi and Belgavi districts.

International News

1. Pakistan spy sues his own agency

  • A serving Pakistani intelligence officer has filed a petition accusing seniors in his Intelligence Bureau of protecting terrorists.
  • He has accused the officials of being directly involved with terrorist groups and enemy intelligence agencies.

2. We have not declared war on North Korea : US

  • The White House said that the US has not declared a war on North Korea and any suggestion in this regard is absurd.
  • This comes after North Korea claimed Trump’s recent statements on N Korea amount to a war declaration.

3. ISIS challenges UK’s Prince Harry

  • ISIS has released a video challenging Britain’s Price Harry to fight its militants.
  • The fighter also called on jihadists to fight for ISIS across the Middle East and Africa.

4. India to get Pinaka rockets to counter Pak’s nukes

  • Indian Army might develop the Pinaka guided rockets to counter Pakistan’s threat of using nuclear weapons.
  • A govt official reportedly said the Pakistanis developed the nukes with the help of Chinese.

1. Deloitte cyber attack compromises client’s passwords, e-mails

  • Accountancy firm Deloitte said that the hackers accessed data from the company’s e-mail platform.
  • The firm added that only a small number of its clients have been impacted.

2. Patanjali CEO ranked 8th in Hurun Rich List

  • Acharya Balakrishna’s net worth grew by 173% to Rs.70,000 crore.
  • He is ahead of Bharti Airtel’s Sunil Mittal(Rs.56,500 cr) and Kotak Mahindra’s Uday Kotak(Rs.62,700 cr).

3. Two Indians on list of most powerful women in International Business

  • Two Indian women have featured on Fortune’s list of Most Powerful Women in business outside the US.
  • Managing Director and CEO of ICICI Bank Chanda Kocchar was ranked 5th and MD and CEO of Axis Bank Shikha Sharma was ranked at 21.

1. India number 1 in ODI

  • Following their win over Australia in the third ODI, India dislodged South Africa to become sole number one ODI team.
  • India are currently 5th in T20I rankings.

2. Shaw 2nd youngest after Sachin to hit 100 in Duleep Trophy

  • Mumbai youngster Prithvi Shaw became the 2nd youngest player after Sachin to score a century in Duleep Trophy, making debut in the tournament’s final for India Red.
  • He also scored a hundred in his Ranji Trophy debut in January.
