1.Shaktikanta Das named India’s G-20 Sherpa.

  • The Ministry of Finance appointed former economic affairs secretary Shaktikanta Das as India’s Sherpa for the Development Track of the grouping.
  • There are two tracks in G-20,Finance Track and Development Track.

2.Russia to help India to set up National Crisis Response Center.

  • Russia will assist India to set up a national crisis management centre in the country to handle disaster and other emergency situations.
  • This was agreed during a meeting between Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Russian Minister for Emergency Situations Vladimir Puchkov in Moscow.

International News

1.Aung San Suu Kyi stripped of Freedom of Oxford Award.

  • Myanmar’s de facto leader Aung San Suu Kyi has been stripped of the Freedom of Oxford Awardover her inaction in handling the raging Rohingya refugee crisis.
  • Oxford city council in London voted unanimously to permanently remove the honour given to 72-year-old Suu Kyi in 1972.

2.7th World Military Games to be held at Wuhan in China.

  • The 7th International Military Games will be held in Wuhan city in the central China’s Hubei Province.
  • It comprises 329 competitions in 27 categories and is expected to attract around 8000 participants from more than 100 countries and regions.

3.French film on AIDS wins best film award at IFFI 2017.

  • Robin Champillo’s French film 120 Beats Per Minute, about a passionate fight against indifference towards AIDS, won the prestigious Golden Peacock Award for best film at the 48th IFFI(International Film Festival of India).
  • Actor Amitabh Bachchan was also presented the Indian film personality of the year award.

1.Bitcoin crosses $10,000 for the first time ever.

  • The price of World’s largest crypto currency, Bitcoin surpassed $10,000 mark for the first time ever.
  • The digital currency has surged over 1,000% year-to-date, rising from less than $1,000 at the start of 2017.

2.FM Arun Jaitley formally launches Paytm Payments Bank.

  • Finance Minister Arun Jaitley formally launched the Paytm Payments Bank in New Delhi.
  • The Payments Bank will have zero charges on all online transactions and no minimum balance requirement.

3.NK Singh appointed as 15th Finance Commission chairman.

  • The government announced that former revenue secretary NK Singh will be the chairman of the 15th Finance Commission(FC) that will recommend distribution of taxes between the centre and states.
  • Finance commission was established by the President of India in 1951.

1.Official poster for 2018FIFA WC in Russia unveiled.

  • The official poster for next year’s FIFA WC in Russia unveiled by FIFA Moscow.
  • The poster has been designed by Russian artist Igor Gurovich and portays Ballon d’Or-winning legendary Soviet goalkeeper Lev Yashin and also celebrates Russia’s achievements in space exploration.

2.Valtteri Bottas Wins Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

  • Valtteri Bottas won the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix from pole position, beating his Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton.
  • The Finnish driver comfortably secured third win of his F-1 career, all this season since joining from Williams.
